William 6 mo. {Kansas City Children’s Photography}
You may remember William and his adorable family from his Kansas City newborn session. I can’t believe how quickly he has grown. Six month old and plenty of personality to show. He loves, boxes, blocks, and blowing lots of raspberries. Enjoy!

In an effort to make myself more accountable to my Kansas City photography blog (ehem, sorry for the neglect) I joined a group of photographers working on an Exhibit Project. The idea is to test ourselves and our creativity with a monthly theme,

Hello. This is Henry. And he might just be the cutest little boy you will ever meet (I mean seriously, just look at those eyes–HEARTBREAKER!). I had the immense pleasure of meeting Henry and his beautiful family at the Studio at Strawberry Hill for his 8 month session. Yes you read that right. This little chunk of love is only 8 months old. He was a jabbering, crawling, into everything, perfect little model for our Kansas City children’s photography session. This little one is sure to keep mom and dad running for years! Enjoy!

There is just something about a brand new family of three. In this case, a brand new family of four as we can’t forget the beloved T, the H family’s year old Saint Bernard. Even after a month of having baby Park around the house, she is still very timid of this new little baby. The H family had the perfect home Kansas city to showcase their newborn baby. They have remodeled almost every inch of it and I was drooling over the custom barn doors (the dark wood behind the family in the first picture) and their very bungalow style white hard wood floors. I joked that I would have to sneak over and borrow their house for more Kansas City newborn photography sessions.

Location sessions in the winter may not be the most popular among families due to typically frigid temperatures, but it’s never too late to get family pictures done. The light in winter is some of the most gorgeous conditions we could ask for all year. Snow gives us the chance to bring in some fun accessories and what kids don’t mind an impromptu snowball fight. Don’t hesitate to do something fun and unique for this years Kansas City family photography session.

“Cobblers kids have no shoes”.
When people find out that I am a photographer with children, they often remark that I must have a million pictures of my kids. To that I usually respond with a slight shrug and a sinking feeling of guilt realizing that actually I don’t and the ones I do have are sitting in an obscure and unorganized file on a hard drive somewhere. Until the amazing Chuckie Arlund met us for an impromptu photo shoot last month it had been four years since our last real family portrait. 4 YEARS! (says the woman who preaches the importance of regularly documenting your family).

Let me start this blog post by admitting that I am not a very good driver. It’s not that I can’t drive or that I am not competent behind the wheel; the problem is that I am constantly looking out for amazing and unique locations. Case in point, the beautiful autumn lane that the F Family happens to be standing in for their gorgeous Kansas City family session.

It’s taken me a bit to get caught up with the my little rush of fall family portrait sessions this year. Jenn and Jared have the most adorable kids and we had a blast exploring downtown Parkville, MO and English Landing Park.

I am always amazed at the artistic talent that abounds in Kansas City. When the wonderful Briana of Shades of Gray Photography asked me to shoot her maternity pictures I was honored and nervous. It’s always a bit scary to know that the person in front of your camera knows what they are doing behind the camera. Luckily for me Briana and her adorable family couldn’t have been sweeter or more amazing to work with (wrestling matches in the middle of a field, definitely my kind of family). Little baby Nora is due to join them any day now, so enjoy!

The B Family couldn’t have been happier at baby William’s arrival and I couldn’t be more delighted with the outcome of their precious in home session. William did have a bit of a hard time sleeping through the session, until we laid him down next his 3 mo. old cousin Al. Despite being next to another slightly larger and squirmy baby, William fell fast asleep. It was such a sweet scene it will be so much fun to watch these two little boys grow up together. Enjoy!
