Meet A Day to Adore!

At A Day to Adore, we offer the finest in Portraiture and Wedding photography.  Our goal is to create a fun and enjoyable experience so that we can capture real and meaningful moments, many of which are once in a lifetime. We do not limit our style and spend time to understand who you are so we can cater the images to match your personality, style, and flare.  Having been on both sides of the camera, we realize that photography is a serious investment. One aspect of that investment is the price; as fellow humans, we do not like hidden or ambiguous prices. We would rather have you focus your energy on the other side of the investment spectrum – value. Please spend time browsing our website and galleries and enjoy the images. If you decide that we are the right fit for you, your family, or your wedding events, please let us know. We would love to be a part of these beautiful moments in your life.

Deanna Johnson, Owner Photographer

Photography found me and I fell in love. Almost on accident. One day it was just for fun, now it is my life. The thing that I do that has come to define me. The thing that allowed me to gain the self-confidence to live the life everyone else talks about. There is nothing like the click of a shutter and the flutter in your stomach when you know that it was a perfect moment that now will be remembered for a lifetime. Photography is a dynamic. A challenge with ever changing life and light that you have to be immersed in it to understand how it breathes. The thing that me makes me tick. And a few more. Barefoot in the grass. My son when he is sleeping and when he is in full destruction mode. Craft paper and lace. Bright colorful rooms with big comfy chairs. Junk in wheat fields. Parts of small towns where no one understands its beauty. A smile. A kiss. Big earrings. The love of my life. Watching other people marry theirs.

FAQ

How do I prepare for a photoshoot?

The best thing to do to prepare is to be relaxed. The more natural you are, and the more comfortable you are, the better the results will be. Know where and when to meet. Sessions begin promptly at our scheduled time. If you are late, it will cut in to shoot time as often times appointments are scheduled back to back. If you know you are running late, please call as soon as you know.

What should I/we wear?

DO’s:
Wear something that you are comfortable in and is flattering for your body type. I am heartbroken when people say, “we love the pictures but I hate the shirt I am wearing.” Please like what you are wearing! :) Make sure that if you are with others, that some part of your outfit combinations match (i.e. blue jeans, dark shirts, yellow accents, etc.) Feel free to bring a change of clothing or a jacket, to mix it up a bit. Wear clothes that reflect your personality and that compliment your style.
DO NOT’s:
Do not wear light clothing if we are doing an outdoor session in the winter. Wear clothes that are itchy or uncomfortable. The only thing that is an absolute do not is wearing sunglasses or hats–I will not be able to do the session if you wear these things, the pictures will not be at the level that I am comfortable charging for.
If you have questions about what to/not to wear, PLEASE call me *immediately.

What should I expect from you when we book?

Good question, possibly the best. I will chat with you, get to know you and your style. We will pick locations that fit you best. I then ask that you show up at our decided location on time, as being late will cut into shoot time. During an average photoshoot (including specific events for weddings i.e. bridals), you can expect me to take between 150-250 pictures. From those I will select the very best and do a general edit to the pictures (color correction, interesting filters, etc.) Within 7-14 business days, you will then recieve a cd with all the edited images, typically between 60-120 pictures, sized up to an 8×12″ (unless otherwise noted in your session type). On the disk there is an online set and a print set. The online set contains the A Day to Adore watermark that you can use for blogging, facebook, etc. and for copyright purposes we ask that you use these online. The other set does not have a watermark and you can print them up the the 8×12″ size at your favorite photo printer for scrap-booking or other uses. Up to about an 8×12″ size, there is not a noticeable difference between a professional lab and Costco and you will save money ordering smaller prints through them. Larger prints ordered through us will be touched up, color corrected and ensured to print amazing.

Do you travel?

Yes! I do not charge for travel unless it is more than 75 miles for the entire trip there and back. If it is more, than I simply charge for gas (at the current market value). I also do distant location shoots, please contact me for information on those.

Do you do design and printing for invitations and announcements?

Yes. We have designed announcements and invitations for many of our clients. Please contact us for more information on these.

How can I know if I will like my pictures?

Unless you specify a particular style you are going for, your images will have elements of the work I have posted on my website. If you like what you see, then you will like your pictures.
We are pleased to have had the opportunity to shoot for and participate in these great organizations.
